Chuck Cheesman: Music

You and Me (from the First Friday Song Sampler 2004)

(words and music by Chuck Cheesman)
"You and Me" is from the compilation "Chicago Songwriters: First Friday Song Sampler 2004". An acoustic version of this song appears on "Campfire".

My wife and I had left Chicago for a months long road trip. I'd left the guitar/voice demo of this back in Illinois, and my friend Steve Joyner was kind enough to add the arrangement and include this on the CD he produced. It is an honor for me to appear on the recording with so many other talented people. Karen Banks-Lubicz sings the beautiful harmony to my melody.
We drove west toward the mountains
into the endless August Sky
into the infinite tomorrow
where someday our past will lay.

We drove clear across Nebraska
through a dry electric storm
and all the stars spelled out before us
this is what tonight is for.

for you and me...

We broke down in Wyoming
and it's funny in a way
how we called home to our family
to try to help us get away.

It's like coming down from Paintbrush Divide
the sky opened-up and poured
I know nothing is ever perfect
but there are things on Earth so pure...

for you and me...
