Chuck Cheesman: Music

On the Way Up (duet with Kat Parsons)

(words and music by Chuck Cheesman)
From the CD "Coming Home", this is one of the oldest original songs I still play. Obviously, my roots were planted firmly in popular music. I still enjoy listening back to this recording. It is a joy to hear Kat Parsons singing my lyrics, and the guitar break has a little of my friend Dale Petersohn and a little of me bending notes in DADGAD tuning. It was a fun record to make!
on the way up
I guess I forgot that you could fall
I just wasn't prepared for this at all
when I let myself down
if you were not around
how I hate to think where I'd be now

so on the way up
never have a doubt. you know I care
just call my name I will be there
you mean the world to me
it's time I finally let you see
just how much your love means to me

that's what love has come to mean to me

now I want to see you dancing in the sun
I want you to know that you're the one
who turned my life around
picked me up when I was down
I want to do the same for you

that's what love has come to mean to me

So open up your heart to me
I give my love to you
There is so much we should be
and do...
